The Team ..........
At present the team at Energy Kick Fitness consists of husband and wife, Garry and Kim.
It all started with a crazy idea a few years ago of getting back in to shape. Garry returned to martial arts training and started back at the gym regularly. Kim gave martial arts a try and has never looked back.
During the national lockdown of 2020, they both signed up to a Personal Training Diploma course.
They want to help people realise their own potential when it comes to personal fitness and assist them reach their goals and targets.
A bit of their journey is below. No doubt, there will be more added over the next few years and along the way some new team members will commence their journey with them ..............
Garry is a 1st Dan Black Belt in Kickboxing and has over 15 years of various Martial Arts training. He started fairly late on at the age of 25, and although he has not done it continuously due to injuries along the way, he has reignited the passion and drive for exercise. It was a long journey to finally get his black belt at the age of 43 !! There really is no barrier to getting something that you work hard for.
Modifying exercises to compensate for injuries, he began to train again in his early forties at the gym and completed the coast to coast bike ride not once but twice !
He took the step to widen his skills and started to study for his Level 3 Personal Training Diploma in August 2020 at the same time as Kim, during the national lockdown. After 7 months of questions, videos, and assignments he passed in March 2021 and is now ready to pass on his knowledge, experience, and motivation on to our customers.
Shortly after becoming a qualified personal trainer, he then studied in programming plans for older adults. Having passed this Level 3 qualification he is now ready to help older adults stay fit, mobile and active.

Garry says - " I believe anyone can achieve their goals if they are dedicated, motivated and willing to make small sacrifices. There are no limits to who can carry out exercise plans if they are focused and make modifications where needed. Any exercise is better than none. I'm here to help and guide where possible".
Kim is a fully qualified Early Years Practitioner with over 18 years experience in the Early Years sector. She has worked in a variety of settings such as nurseries and schools. Kim is very keen on promoting being active and healthy to children from a very young age to ensure they are healthy later in life.
Kim was not really that active and as a result of this, her health started to have a big impact on her day to day living. From not being active and having an unhealthy diet, Kim began to start putting on a lot of weight, which then resulted in a lot of pressure being put on her joints. She was diagnosed with arthritis in her shoulder and high blood pressure which meant she was frequently at her doctors. This also caused Kim to have issues with sleeping and confidence. Something had to change.
Kim then started Martial Arts training with Garry and although it was tough she kept going and the weight started to drop off. Kim then looked at her diet and after a lot of research decided that she wanted to become vegan. After Losing nearly 4 stone of weight in just under a year, the change in Kim was amazing and she decided that she wanted to help other people feel the same. At the same time as Garry, she studied for her qualifications in Personal Training.
Following her personal training qualification, Kim went on to pass her Level 3 pre/post natal fitness qualification.

Kim says - " My life has changed for the better because of exercise. Not only has my endurance and fitness levels improved, I'm now more focused and motivated than I ever have been.
If I can pass on my knowledge and motivation to others to help them on their journey, I know I can help them for the better.
Making a change to peoples physical activities and lifestyle is a challenge that I accept and I can't wait ".
